An aviation quality assurance system consists of an auditing process to ensure that all aircraft activity is being conducted accordingly within certain requirements, standards and procedures. The system was designed to better maximize the effectiveness and overall safety of operations within the aviation industry. The system and its standards are enforced by the FAA Safety and Quality Assurance Office.

This program is a great example of what a quality assurance system is in action. Flight safety programs are used to assess and ensure that flight operations are safe and free of risks. Flight safety issues are monitored and resolved by two programs, the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) and the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). Both FOQA and ASAP work together to ensure the flight safety program is running smoothly. Each program collects and analyzes flight data and uses it to assess the safety of flight operations, air traffic control methods and airport and aircraft maintenance.
This program within the Quality Assurance System works improve the environment. The environmental program prevents pollution, integrates systems, communicates policies, complies with legal requirements and continually improves the Environmental Management System (EMS).
