The RAA 2017 Annual Convention will take place Sunday September 24th – Wednesday September 27th. The event will be hosted by the Regional Airline Association in Palm Beach, Florida at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Aviation professionals and students were relieved to hear that Hurricane Irma didn’t affect the event.
What is the RAA Annual Convention?
The RAA Annual Convention is a conference and trade show that provides education and networking for aviation professionals that are part of the regional airline industry. Education is provided during sessions and seminars that are offered during the event. The exhibit is open through most of the show featuring MROs, aviation schools, aerospace manufacturers, and aviation specialty companies.
The RAA started hosting the Convention in 1975. The event was often hosted during the spring, but was moved to the fall to provide better logistics. 2017 marks the 42nd convention.
What to Expect for the RAA 2017 Annual Convention
The RAA 2017 Annual Convention begins Sunday with a golf tournament at the Atlantic National Golf Club. Monday’s schedule is primarily designated for meetings. Attendees can watch the State of the Industry general session, visit the RAA Silent Auction, or go to the Exhibit Hall ribbon cutting. Tuesday offers the most options for attendees including multiple sessions, the Career Expo, Happy Hour, and A Night at the Improv event. Wednesday wraps up the RAA Convention with the RAA Purchasing Forum and SMS Training/Root Cause Analysis & Investigation. The schedule can appear intimidating due to the amount of member or invite only events. Make sure to stop by the RAA Silent Auction, Career Expo, and trade show as they are multi-day events.
There are 135 exhibitors registered to appear on the RAA trade show floor. The Silent Auction is the primary fundraiser for the RAA scholarship fund. 100% of the earnings go towards aviation scholarships. The Career Expo is new for 2017. The purpose of the event is to connect students and aviation professionals with opportunities at regional airlines. The RAA is offering sessions on pilot and aviation maintenance career paths throughout the event.
