OHIO AVIATION MAINTENANCE SYMPOSIUM 2017 REVIEW

OHIO AVIATION MAINTENANCE SYMPOSIUM 2017 REVIEW

The Ohio Aviation Maintenance Symposium took place at the Columbus State Conference Center on Thursday March 16th. The space provided better audio visual presentation options over the aviation maintenance facility at Bolton Field Airport. The event provided AMTs with 8 hours of Inspection Authorization (IA) training. Over 200 aviation maintenance professionals attended and roughly 20 aviation products and services companies exhibited.

Aviation Maintenance Education

The Ohio Aviation Maintenance Symposium offered a total of 16 sessions. The large conference room provided multiple video screens at different angles to ensure that each AMT had a good view of the material. Attendees could choose between two sessions that were offered at each interval. While the FAA presented on regulatory topics, the exhibitors hosted their own presentations. Many of the vendor presentations focused on equipment maintenance and servicing techniques.

Aircraft Batteries

Glenn McCauley of Aero Battery led a presentation on how to choose the right aircraft battery and proper battery servicing procedures. Glenn McCauley has been in the aircraft battery business for over 44 years and is one of the original founders of the Professional Aircraft Maintenance Association (PAMA). After the presentation, he answered individual aircraft battery questions and provided guidance to aviation maintenance professionals and students. Aero Battery, Inc. is a certified FAA Repair Station (#HB5R903M) for Nickel-Cadmium Batteries, Cells and Lead Acid Batteries of all types by most manufacturers such as Marathon, Saft and Concorde. Aircraft Parts

One of the largest aviation parts distributors, Aviall, exhibited at the Ohio Aviation Maintenance Symposium. Aviall specializes in providing aircraft parts as quickly as possible, offering 24/7/365 Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service. To accomplish this, partnerships have been formed with over 240 manufacturers. Due to Aviall’s success, Boeing purchased the company in 2006. Find Aviall at www.aviall.com

Torque Wrench Calibration & GSE

The service support team from e2b calibration educated visitors about the importance of GSE maintenance and answered questions about torque testing. Many questions were asked about torque wrench uncertainty ratios and when a torque wrench needs to be calibrated. New FOD prevention and asset verification technology was introduced at the Ohio Aviation Maintenance Symposium.
